Plan your first week
Your first plan takes about 5 minutes, and you don't need to fill every slot — most households start with dinners only and add breakfasts later. Here's the whole flow.
1. Open the planner
Go to My plan in the sidebar. You'll see the current week, Monday to Sunday, with a slot for each meal. The week you're looking at is always shown at the top — use the arrows to move between weeks.
2. Add your first dinners
Tap the + in any dinner slot and pick a recipe — search, browse your saved recipes, or take a suggestion. Not cooking that night? Mark the slot as eating out or add a custom note like "at grandma's".
Tip: plan 4–5 dinners, not 7. Real weeks have leftovers and surprises — Matinn is built for that.
3. Plan leftovers on purpose
Cooking a big batch? Add a leftovers slot the next day and link it to the original meal. The shopping list scales the original recipe up automatically, so you buy enough once instead of twice.
4. Build the shopping list
When the week looks right, press . Every ingredient from every planned meal lands on one list — combined, converted and sorted by aisle. Read for the details.
